Tummy Tuck in Newport
Beach
Tummy tuck, more formally known as abdominoplasty, is a surgical
procedure intended to flatten and tighten a protruding stomach.
Patients who pursue tummy tuck surgery are usually fairly close
to their ideal weight, but struggle with excessive, sagging abdominal skin due to pregnancy, significant weight loss, or age.
The procedure, usually performed on an outpatient
basis under general anesthesia or local with sedation, begins with
the placement of a small incision in the lower section of the abdomen.
In this location, the incision will be easily hidden later when
in scar form, even by skimpy swimwear. Excess fat, tissue, and
skin are removed from the abdominal area. Abdominal muscles may
also be tightened for a more toned appearance. The remaining skin
is then pulled and repositioned to create the desired look.
Most Newport Beach tummy tuck patients are
able to return to work about 2-4 weeks after their surgery. At
least 4-6 weeks should be allowed before any activities of a more
strenuous nature are attempted.
